Hello, hello. . .

Oh dear I have done it again and left it ages before blogging *slaps wrist*
Truth is I haven't much to report on the design/crafty side of things at the mo as I am suffering with chronic creative block. It is not a regular occurence for me - thank god - but when I do get a bout of it, its bad! So I am currently trying to shake that off - happy to say im getting there :) my apologies if it seems like a lame excuse! Believe it or not I think my creative block is down to having too many ideas to then try to focus on one - my head is overloaded and big time boggled!
Anyone else out there suffering with this or has done?

Then if creative block wasn't enough to deal with I had another problem occur and that being my poor laptop has been poorly :( it caught a VERY nasty, mean, horrible virus!!! and this virus caused me to loose practically the whole contents of my laptop! Thankfully the clever computer people who nursed my laptop back to health (lol) managed to save my most important files and I am quite good at backing up files - but sadly I lost my software programs I use to design and that = bad times! So now my laptop is pretty much back to the start, meaning I have to start over with it! Ironically while my laptop had a virus I had one too - go figure!

So putting that ALL aside I do have some photos to share :)

Above is a lovely plate that I have inherited from my late Aunty Aud - it has pride of place in my room where I get to see it eveytime I enter :)

Then I have quite a menagerie featuring ^here^ the collection consists of a vintage strawberry jam pot(one of my latest thrifty finds) and the two pieces of jewellery is again inherited from Aunty Aud. Then we have a rather fluffy gathering of pom-poms. . .

. . .yes I have been dabbling in pom-pom making and following the trend! Now I had a go at these before my block got too bad. . .and well creative block permitting I am hoping to incorporate these into my work?!

Then last but no means least. . .

A rather large crinkle crisp which I was very fortunate to eat earlier :P and very moorish it was to!

So there we have it - I do hope that my creative block leaves asap and then hopefully I can get back on track with things and start producing some real crafty loveliness :D

A Belated Birthday Blog Post. . .

It would seem that I completely forgot that it was over a year ago that I first started my blog!!! The exact date was the 3rd June 2010!
What triggered my memory was this post from the lovely Jenny Arnott blog - she too has been celebrating her blog's first birthday :)
I can't believe it has already been a YEAR! I mean really, where does the time go eh!?
I have enjoyed my first year 'blogging' and I hope I can live up to my plans of posting more regular and also I am planning a bit of a blog revamp soon - so please stay tuned for that!

So without further ado; Happy Birthday blog and as a belated celebration I have made a little something :)

I now feel bad for not acknowledging Lizzybeth's Felties 'birthday'!! umm, I will have a think about that. . .  . . . . .

Wednesday, 8 June 2011

Hello all, I hope you are well :)
Today I have taken the decision to close the shops for a few weeks.
I have majorly neglected them lately due to being busy with other work commitments. I plan to add more new feltie goodness and possibly some other lovely goodies!!!
The plan at the mo is to re-open mid july - I hope to stick to that plan too ;p
I know one thing for sure I have many ideas ticking over in my head and cant wait to make them a reality :D
and so as I always say, stay tuned!
Ooh and what do you think of my little friend below??

Mollie Makes and a bit of Thrifting

So a week after release I finally got my hands on a copy of the first issue of Mollie Makes magazine!
I have been looking forward to reading this since being asked to be involved in it back in february and well it certainly did not disappoint!
I love it - there has been a need for this kind of publication for some time now and it is the kind of craft mag that is able to bring together all aspects of handmade and the crafting/design life, it doesn't just focus on one thing like sewing, papercraft etc!
It does what it says on the tin; "Mollie Makes celebrates craft as a part of life".
and well for that Mollie Makes gets a big thumbs up from me :)

I like everyone else who has acquired a copy am in love with the crocheted apple cosies on the front cover! They look amazing and so I have been and got myself some yarn and a crochet hook to have a go at making one - I have never done any crochet/knitting before so I will soon see if I have the co-ordination to do it, and you will to if I post a picture up ;P. . .mmm I wonder. . .
I also have to point out the awesome tag line for the cosies on the cover - Juicy Crochet! I love it, reminds me of the brand Juicy Couture and the juicy part, well quite apt for apples!
As for my favourite part of the magazine, well it's that good I can't choose :)

Now for a bit of thrifting - as celebrated with Mollie Makes!

Thrifting refers to the act of shopping at a thrift store, flea market, garage sale, or a shop of a charitable organization, usually with the intent of finding interesting items at a cheap price.
A larger philosophy permeates the act of thrifting which celebrates the recycling of formerly-owned items, finding new use and new love for vintage material goods which had been thrown out, and the thrill of imagining what the former life of the item was like.
(from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

I think it is safe to say that I am a bit of magpie (my dad often refers to me as one lol) for beads, buttons and all things shiny and so practising the art of thrifting came as second nature really as I love finding things/objects that are pretty, quirky, tactile and I suppose I am quite the collector as my shelves feature anything from shells to penguins to random ornaments to pots and actually when I was younger I loved to collect glass paperweights and small ornaments - i'l have to see if I can find some!

So anyways back to the main story of thrifting! I did my first bit of real thrifting on the weekend and I acquired these lovelies. . .
. . . a glass candle holder,
a really small blue, floral print dish/plate
and then my favourite, an oriental style bird and floral print plate - really pretty!
And in true thrift fashion I got all these for £2!!!
I already have an idea for what to turn these into so watch this space ;) and I can definitely say I throughly enjoyed thrifting and already have plans to do some more, if you haven't already tried it, go for it!
